Montecatini Terme dressed incelebration to honour the elegance and tradition of one of the World’s icons of luxury and fine living: Champagne

On April 26 and 27, the historic Tettuccio Thermal Complex provided a magnificent setting for an exclusive event entirely dedicated to the renowned French sparkling wine, attracting enthusiasts, industry experts, and curious visitors from across Italy.

A Sensory Journey Through History, Taste, and Culture

The event, which featured the participation of numerous Champagne maisons, was designed as a true sensory journey. Inside the monumental spaces of the Terme Tettuccio — adorned with Liberty-style frescoes and marble colonnades — visitors had the opportunity to taste a wide selection of labels, ranging from iconic houses to exceptional small producers, with over 100 champagnes available for tasting.

In addition to tasting stations, the programme included thematic masterclasses led by prominent sommeliers and wine critics, who explored the history, production techniques, and unique characteristics of each cuvée. The gourmet pairings were particularly well received, with finger foods and local specialities carefully selected to enhance the aromatic profiles of the various champagnes.

Montecatini’s Role in the Rise of Wine and Culinary Tourism

The event not only provided a prestigious occasion for wine lovers but also offered a unique opportunity to showcase the architectural and cultural beauty of this spa town. The Terme Tettuccio, a symbol of Tuscan thermal heritage and the Belle Époque, once again proved to be the perfect venue for high-profile events that combine culture, gastronomy, and tourism.

“We wanted to bring to Montecatini a one-of-a-kind experience,” said one of the organisers. “Champagne is a symbol of elegance and conviviality — values that align perfectly with the spirit of this city.”

Looking Ahead to the Next Edition?

Given the enthusiastic response and the high quality of the experience, there are already rumours of a second edition in 2026, with the aim of establishing Montecatini as a national landmark for champagne-focused events and international wine excellence.
