A memorable day celebrating tradition, culture and prestigious recognition in the heart of Montecatini Terme

A recognition celebrating history and tradition

Saturday, May 31st, 2025 marked a historic date for the Historic Caffè Tettuccio in Montecatini Terme: the renowned establishment was officially welcomed into the prestigious Italy’s Historic Venues Circuit, a recognition that honors nearly a century of tradition, elegance and culture.

Located within the Tettuccio Thermal Establishment, a Liberty-style jewel of Tuscany and UNESCO heritage site, the Historic Caffè has always been a landmark for those seeking an authentic experience in the heart of one of Europe’s most famous spa towns.

The ceremony: institutions and tradition come together

The event began at 11:30 AM with a press conference attended by numerous institutional authorities and local press representatives. Among the guests, whom we are pleased to thank:

  • Beatrice Chelli, Deputy Mayor of Montecatini Terme
  • Enrico Magenes, President of Associazione Locali Storici d’Italia
  • Renzo Borelli, historic manager of Caffè Storico Tettuccio
  • Gianluca Fiorini, who devoted himself extensively to the realization of this project, and other local personalities
  • Barbara Calicci, legal counsel for Historic Caffè Tettuccio
  • Cristina Pantera, Vice President of CARIPT Foundation

The morning concluded with a celebratory breakfast that combined the pleasure of Tuscan gastronomic tradition with the charm of the Tettuccio’s Liberty-style environment.

Musical excellence with Ensemble Leoncavallo

Adding even more atmosphere to the ceremony was the performance by Ensemble Leoncavallo, a prestigious chamber music group connected to the homonymous cultural association of Montecatini. The quartet that performed for the occasion featured:

  • Angela Avanzati and Andrea Severi, piano duo formed in 2023 on the occasion of the UNESCO event for Montecatini Terme
  • Brunella Carrari, soprano
  • Stefano Cecchi, clarinetist

A refined performance that accompanied the day, offering guests a repertoire ranging from opera to chamber music in perfect harmony with the elegance of the venue.

The magic of 19th-century dance

The atmosphere was further enriched thanks to Compagnia della Bizzarria d’Amore, which brought back to life the French Quadrille, a historic 19th-century dance performed in authentic period costumes.

The dancers performed the choreographic suite in five movements to the original music of Johann Strauss Sr., transporting the audience on a true journey through time. An unprecedented performance in the evocative setting of the Historic Caffè, demonstrating how the recovery of traditions can perfectly dialogue with the cultural and tourism enhancement of the territory.

A new chapter for a Montecatini icon

The entry of Historic Caffè Tettuccio into the Italy’s Historic Venues Circuit represents not only a prestigious recognition, but also opens new perspectives for the future. The venue, which preserves intact the charm of the Belle Époque, confirms itself as a reference point for:

  • High-level cultural events
  • Gastronomic experiences rooted in tradition
  • Quality tourism discovering the historical roots of Montecatini Terme
  • Enhancement of architectural and cultural heritage

A place where time stands still

The Historic Caffè Tettuccio continues to be much more than a simple venue: it is a piece of living history that vibrates with art, beauty and tradition, offering residents and visitors a unique experience in the beating heart of Montecatini Terme.
